What we found

3,044 products assessed of 5280 in the catalogue · 58%
401 with at least one flagged substance 13.2% products assessed
6 with a confirmed substance identified endocrine disruptor (ECHA SVHC list)
0 prohibited substances found When an ingredient list’s source cannot be verified, the product ships without a score and with the reason written down. Right now that is 5 producti.

How many products each substance appears in. Appearing here does not mean "dangerous": the evidence level, shown next to it, is what matters.

What this score cannot tell you

A safety score that does not declare its limits is marketing. Here are ours.

We know it is there, not how much
Nobody declares real concentrations, and we do not infer them from position in the ingredient list. A product at the legal limit and one at a hundredth of it score the same. Ours is a presence × exposure-type indicator, never a dose.
We check 35 substances, not all of them
The dataset covers 35 substances with a verifiable regulatory source (ECHA / SCCS). A product can be full of ingredients we do not check and come out clean.
“No flagged substance” ≠ “safe”
That follows directly from the two points above. Which is why there is no green badge on this site: we flag the high and critical bands only, never a promotion.
On a typical product we see very little
Median: we have hazard data for 3.8% of a flagged product’s ingredients. The rest of the list is there, it is just not among the 35 substances we check. The score is a floor, not a verdict.
Sometimes we publish nothing
When an ingredient list’s source cannot be verified, the product ships without a score and with the reason written down. Right now that is 5 producti.

How it is computed

Per flagged ingredient: evidence level (SVHC or prohibited 100, SCCS suspected 60, assessed with limits 25) × modality (×1.2 for thyroid, steroidogenesis, reproductive toxicity), capped at 100. Per product: maximum presence + mixture bonus (5 points per extra substance, capped at 20) × exposure factor (leave-on 1.0; rinse-off 0.6; lips and eyes ×1.1). An EU-prohibited substance pins the score to 100. Algorithm version ED_SCORE_0.1, dataset ED_HAZARD_0.1: changing a constant changes the version.

Bands: none 0 · low 1-29 · moderate 30-59 · high 60-89 · critical 90-100.

The score has no influence whatsoever on dupe ranking: they are two different questions.

Original engine text: Screening indicator only: real concentrations are unknown and never inferred from INCI position. SCCS opinions and legal limits are reference values, not measurements of this product.
absence of flag ≠ absence of risk (dataset covers 35 substances)
